Fibre Cable

Choosing the right cable
With so much choice in cables, it is hard to find the right one.

The table below summarizes the choices, applications and advantages of each.

Loose Tube optical fibre cables have been designed specifically for internal and external applications. These compact, lightweight cables are extremely flexible and are quick and easy to install. The cables are constructed around a gel filled (non-dripping and silicon free) tube containing up to 24 colour coded 250μm primary coated fibres. This tube is covered with smellable (for the longitudinal water tightness) yarns as strength members. The outer jacket is Flame retardant, Low Smoke Zero Halogen.

Loose Tube Type

Tight buffer fibre cable generally consists of individually colour coded 900μm secondary coated fibres, embedded in an E-glass roving, and over sheathed with a single Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) outer jacket. The jacket is flame retardant, UV stabilised and extremely resistant to the ingress of moisture. Their small diameter, lightweight and excellent environmental performance makes these cables ideal for installation in a broad range of network applications including LAN backbones, networks with mixed indoor and outdoor cabling, outdoor in flooded ducts and any premises distribution system.
